WalkingWorld.jpg
Another good one. Walkingworld has huge library of guides with a good selection of walks, of varying lengths and grades, pretty well anywhere in the UK. The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks.

Crucially you can also find walks France, Spain, Norway, Portugal and Australia!

Camping and Caravaning

Broadway Cottage Camping

Broadway Cottage Road, Cheddar BS26 2DP, UK – 01934 744352

This is a basic but very lovely campsite. The toilets and showers are agin basic but fine although I can imagine it gets a bit hectic during peak time. The camp itself is immaculately clean and there is a small washpoint for dishes etc outside of the ladies toilets. There is a lovely walk to Cheddar via Strawberry Lines and the reservoir. I had a lovely welcome from the campsite owner and her manager who were very helpful. I found it was reasonable value for money; we booked with electric hook up which was fine. There is a local pub nearby and the town of Cheddar is approximately 30-40 min walk along the Strawberry Lines. The big bonus for me is that campsite is dog friendly.

Big ground. Dog friendly. Nice and tidy toilet and shower.

Petruth Paddocks

Labourham Drove, Cheddar BS27 3XW, UK – 07813 320870

What a fantastic campsite - great atmosphere and spacious! Instead of bringing our own tent, we decided to try a 'shepherds hut' and were not disappointed. It was much larger than I had anticipated - 2 adults + 4 kids - ample room for sleeping. During our stay it was blazing hot (July 2018) and there was an issue with the hut being too hot. However after a brief discussion with Jules regarding the fact that it wouldn't cool down (we weren't complaining - great weather has inevitable issues. NOTE if considering a non summer stay they are well insulated), he appeared an hour later with a fan - A total star. There is also a van that does really good bacon rolls/ cooked breakfasts in the mornings.

Lovely campsite. Staff are very friendly. Showers hot, toilets clean. We stayed in one of the two wooden huts. Highly recommended. You get power sockets, tea making facilities, electric lights, no hassle putting up a tent. Top tip: go through the little gate near the welcome tent and turn right. There is a sign saying 'car boot sale this way', it fails to mention that the brewery is also that way. Well worth a visit if you want local beer!

Cheddar Caravan and Motorhome Club Site

Gas House Lane, Draycott Rd, Cheddar BS27 3RL, UK – 01934 740207

We are at the CL site opposite the Caravan Club site. Site is clean and Warden is helpful and informative about the area. Would recommend and come here again.

Lovely site. Lovely wardens. Can't understand family's bringing children there as no amenities for them. A few there this weekend using the road on campsite like a race track on bikes and other ride on things. Very noisy when you want to just relax.
